THE Campaign for the Protection of Rural England says it will oppose a plan to build a new medical centre in Upton.
Along with plans to expand the marina and build a number of holiday chalets on its fringe, the medical centre is part of what the organisation's Worcestershire branch describes as a 'flood' of developments.
The £2m scheme, underpinned by Government money, is being proposed for a greenfield site at the bottom of Tunnel Hill. The CPRE says this is against a local plan that stresses the importance of Upton remaining a town surrounded by green countryside.
Frank Hill, of the Malvern Hills CPRE, said: "We would object to the medical centre on the grounds that it would bring about the end of the agriculture clear zone between Upton and Tunnel Hill."
