A MALVERN artist is steaming to national recognition with her distinctive paintings of railway engines.
Glenys Burrows is one of only a handful of artists to be admitted to the prestigious Guild of Railway Artists. She has two works currently on display at their main exhibition of the year, taking place at the National Railway Museum in York.
"I've been painting trains all my life," she said.
"I've always been interested in them, ever since I used to watch them out of my window with my brother, who is a trainspotter, at the age of about three.
"My husband and his brother are both trainspotters too, so I'm never really away from trains!"
Mrs Burrows had to submit several pieces of work to be judged by a panel of senior members of the Guild before being granted membership. To have two of her works selected out of the many submitted for display at its national exhibition is no mean feat.
She is the resident artist at the Station Crafts co-operative on Great Malvern Station and many examples of her watercolours of the Malverns can be found at the station craft shop.
