THERE was a serious accident at the Bushley crossroads last Monday morning. The school bus, with infant and junior children on board, turning from Bushley towards Ledbury on the main road was in collision with a van coming from the Ledbury direction. No one on the bus was injured but the van driver was seriously hurt and taken to hospital by air ambulance. The children were shaken and quite frightened. To get on to the main road from Bushley can be very hazardous, traffic from the Ledbury direction speeds round the bend unaware of the junction ahead. Do we have to wait for a fatality before this black spot is improved? The council within the past month have been doing work on the drains at this location; what a pity that red tarmac and warning signs and speed restrictions could not have been installed. Had it been a minibus doing the school run rather than a 49-seater coach, I dread to think of the consequences.

The dance organised by the Forthampton & District Royal British Legion was held at the village hall on Friday. The county chairman, county ladies' chairman and other officials attended and about 125 other guests. An excellent supper was provided, prepared by lady members. Geoff George provided the music, which as always was varied, the dance floor is always full when Geoff's music is played. Norman Pittman was the MC for the evening and including a raffle £560 was made for branch and poppy funds.
