A FORGOTTEN time capsule has been opened for the fist time since it was sealed 10 years ago.
The capsule was filled with more than 100 diaries written by Worcester people about everyday life, and has been kept in the basement of the city museum since 1991.
It was supposed to be opened on Tuesday, September 18, this year, but it had been forgotten until education officer Anna Dolecka discovered it by accident last week.
The seal on the capsule was broken on Wednesday by City Museum and Art Gallery staff who had never its contents.
"The diaries are written by real Worcester people about their everyday lives and what they thought," said Nicole Burnett, social history officer.
People wrote about a range of subjects in every day life, from what they had for lunch to what they though of the bus station which had just been built.
Museum staff are in the process of going through the diaries and tracking down the authors.
Another Private Views project is already being planned for March next year when a new set of diaries will be buried.
