WORCESTERSHIRE people are unaware of their basic rights, the Citizen Advice Bureau warns.

A MORI poll of 2,000 people revealed people did not fully realise their employment, benefit and consumer rights.

Fifty two per cent of respondents in the Midlands region got more than half the questions wrong.

"This survey shows individuals don't immediately have all the necessary information to hand and explains why sources of information and advice such as the Citizens Advice Bureau are so essential,'' said Dawn Trigg, development officer the at National Association of Citizens' Advice Bureaux Midlands field office.

Thirty-eight per cent of people questioned thought the national minimum wage was higher than it is, 92 per cent did not know the maximum amount an NHS dentist could charge for a course of treatment, while 61 per cent were unaware that people in full-time employment were entitled to four weeks' paid annual holiday.

Seventy-six per cent did not know how much a single pensioner was entitled to under the Government's Minimum Income Guarantee and 51 per cent did not realise that they could receive a full refund when reconditioned second-hand were faulty.
