BENGEWORTH Tigers, last season's Division One runners up, quickly adapted to the new 11-up points scoring system by roaring to an 8-2 victory in taming Kington Bulldogs.

Grahame Brown, who is known to be opposed to the new system, still won his three singles and was well supported by Stuart Green and Bob Price.

For the Bulldogs, Andrew Smith beat Price and, together with Bill Dawson, defeated Price and Greene 11-8, 11-6, 11-7 in the doubles.

Wyre Piddle Livewyres beat clubmates Outcasts 8-2 with Geoff Woodward unbeaten.

Rob Addis and Chris Gooderham, who were on the same side in last week's Parish Games final, were at opposite ends of the table with Addis coming out on top 11-7, 11-9, 11-6.

Gooderham did beat Malcolm MacFarlane 11-9, 7-11, 6-11, 11-7, 11-9 in the only game to go the distance.

Evesham Rowing Club and Bengeworth Blue fought out a 5-5 draw, Mike Prior won three singles including an 11-8, 11-8, 12-10 win over Three Peaks charity walker Chris Penny.

John Mytton won two singles on his return to league action but lost to Penny 4-11, 11-6, 10-12, 11-8, 11-7. The Blue led 5-4 but Penny and John Teare took a hard fought doubles 5-11, 13-11, 8-11, 11-7, 11-6 to earn the draw.

In Division Two, Colin Green won three singles on his debut in Bengeworth Lions' 7-3 win over clubmates 49ers for whom the ever reliable Stan Owen won two singles.

Rob Sexton's three singles win wasn't enough to get Littleton Supermarine off to a winning start. Stuart Spires beat Malcolm Dobson but Tom Urbanski and Craig Norledge both beat Spires and Marie West.

Dobson also beat West coming back from two sets down 7-11, 7-11, 11-7, 11-5, 11-9 but the match looked destined for a draw when Sexton and Spires led 11-7, 11-6 in the doubles.

Norledge and Urbanski, though, refused to be denied and took the next three 11-9, 11-9, 11-7 to take Bengeworth Sapphires to a 6-4 victory.

The new-look Bengeworth Green got off to a winning start with an 8-2 victory over the young Littleton Loopers. The scoreline suggests an easy victory but both Andrew Taylor and Martin Brown went close against Aileen Berry.
