Evesham II 29pts,
Nuneaton OE II 12
ANOTHER victory took Evesham's winning run to four games but this was a far from convincing show.
Showing several changes, Evesham's start to the game was slightly shaky against well organised opposition and it was Nuneaton who opened the scoring with an unconverted try.
The visitors continued to pressurise the Evesham line for much of the first quarter but the defence held firm.
When Evesham finally took hold of the game it was prop Mick Hodges who powered over the line from a penalty, converted by Tim Carsberg.
Slick handling from the backs and good support from the back row resulted in an excellent try scored by Jim Moulton, again converted by Carsberg, leaving the half time score 14-5.
Nuneaton scored the first try of the second half which was converted and this seemed to trigger Evesham into action as their winning run looked under threat.
Evesham's third try came from a loose ball seized upon by full back Maurice Parkinson who chipped the ball over his opposite numbers head and into space.
Regaining possession he released the support for Alex Badger to score close to the post, converted by Carsberg.
This was followed by a Cars-berg penalty to give the home side some breathing space.
The fourth and final try was scored by Badger, who forced his way over in the corner, after driving runs from the forwards.
This score took Badger's try count to six in two games.
