THREE rare items discovered in Kidderminster will feature in an auction which is expected to attract worldwide interest.
A sword from Halls Fine Art's Kidderminster office is up for grabs at the auction of firearms and militaria in the Welsh Bridge sale rooms, Shrewsbury. It will be held on Friday, October 19.
The rare weapon was made as an experiment in 1904 as a committee, under the leadership of General French, set out to find the ideal cavalry sword for the British Army.
Other lots include a 1920 French brass fireman's helmet and a First World War German picklehaube helmet, both discovered in Kidderminster and valued at more than £100 each.
Other stars of the sale are likely to be two rare flintlock Baker rifles, the type seen in television series Sharpe.
Gun collectors from all over the world will bid for the rifles, which come from a Shropshire country house and are valued at £2,000 each.
