Hereford's Robert Weale scored two sudden death shoot-out victories to help United Kingdom into a 14-10 lead over the Rest of the World in the Potters Leisure World Bowls Challenge at Hopton, Norfolk.
Weale, last year's world indoor singles champion, teamed with Swansea's John Price to record two pairs wins, beating New Zealand's Roland Brassy and Israel's Jeff Rabkin, and then defeating Canada's Mark Sandford and Australian Ian Taylor, both on tie-breaks.
Weale lost the singles against Rabkin in two sets, but the UK are favourites to win the trophy for the third successive year tonight.
