Evesham Utd 3, Gloucester City 0

NEW signing Guy Hadland marked his Evesham United debut with a first-half goal that sealed a comfortable victory for Phil Mullen's side, writes Mick Clewes.

The former Hinckley United midfielder made the best possible start to his Common Road career with a 44th minute headed goal that followed earlier strikes by Andy Hodgetts and Phil Preedy.

Hodgetts returned from injury to give his side the lead after just five minutes when he followed up Steve Lutz saved effort to head home.

A poor Gloucester outfit were no match for The Robins' forward line which saw further efforts on goal from Roberts, Hodgetts and in particular the in-form Preedy.

The winger enjoyed more freedom than normal as he carved open the City defence on several occasions before being allowed to run through virtually unchallenged to slot a right foot shot past Matt Taylor in the Gloucester goal.

Roberts and Hodgetts looked lively up front for Evesham whose back line was well marshalled in another fine performance from Richard Clark.
