HOCKEY: Former England star Steve Taylor's son hopes to make it a first in the National Hockey League.

Ben Taylor has just joined Stourport and could complete the first father and son combination to play in goal in the competition.

Meanwhile, Stourport have John Willicombe and Rhys Griffiths-Jones returning to the team after a year's absence.

The club begin their National League Division Two programme on Sunday with a visit to Bournville.

Stourport seconds had a resounding 5-1 victory at Nottingham in their first league match.

Former firsts striker David Knott scored a hat-trick and further goals were added by Nick Chambers and captain Tom White.

The thirds had a shock at home to Nottingham, losing 2-1 with newcomer Matt Baker's goal all they could manage.

But Stourport fourths have now scored 28 goals in four matches.

Their latest victims were Worcester who they beat 4-0.

Steve Taylor scored two goals before leaving the pitch with a muscle injury, while Jon Yates and Matt Jenks chipped in.

Cooper scored as the fifths, in the same league as the fourths, lost 5-1 to Shrewsbury.

The sixths played a final friendly at home to Bromsgrove and won 1-0 thanks to Frank Colwill's goal.

Badgers won 2-1 at Kings Heath in their first league match with Gareth Whale and Kit Panell scoring.

Centre Daniel Hurley, only 10, and Andrew Cavendish were impressive.

Winger Bob Taylor scored two and Adrian Moulam and Steve Ellis one each in the veterans' tough 4-2 win over Edgbaston.

Stourport ladies firsts failed to build on the previous week's point with a 5-0 defeat at Droitwich.

They made some breakaway attacks during the match but failed to take advantage of them.

There was better news for the seconds who secured their first league points with a goal from Rosie Williams against Badsey.

Chris Jenns, Andie Thomas and Sarah Dyde all cleared efforts for Stourport who had Julia Hopkins standing in as keeper early on.

They finally created the winning move 12 minutes from time when a short-corner was played to Pat Terry who slipped the ball through for Williams to finish.

The thirds were overwhelmed 7-0 at Harborne in their first Worcestershire Third Division match of the season.

It could have been more as the match was abandoned 10 minutes before time due to rain.

Stourport fell 3-0 behind within 15 minutes but steadied to hold their hosts for the rest of the half before conceding four more.
