A TREMENDOUS day was had by all at the Wychavon Festival of Brass when a total of 48 bands played 51 concerts in three halls during the day.

WEM Jubilee Band was probably the happiest band on the day and the most relieved.

The band won the third section in the morning and then had to play in the fourth in the afternoon and also won that.

Flowers Band from Gloucester won the Wychavon Cup to become supreme champions for 2001, beating off challenges from the four corners of England and Wales.

Arrow Valley Brass achieved a very creditable second place in the third section and also took the Tracy Sollis Cup for the best performance of the day by a local band.
