CONFIDENT boss Rod Brown believes Stourport Swifts can hit the FA Cup first round proper if they enjoy the luck of the draw.

Swifts equal their best run in England's top competition when they visit Unibond League Premier Division Hucknall Town on Saturday.

A win would net them a much-needed £10,000 and leave them one step away from a potential meeting with a Football League club.

Brown, who has seen his newly promoted Dr Martens Western Division side suffer just one defeat from the last 10 games, can see his team upsetting a Conference club at home.

He said: "If we are lucky enough to get a result against Hucknall, I do fancy us in a home one-off tie against someone from the Conference.

"I'm not usually one for making predictions, especially when we're the under-dogs, but we're playing with a lot of confidence and are a good side improved from last year.

"We played Hucknall four years ago in the Vase and they beat us 2-1. They're a different side now but are struggling near the bottom of their league.

"Their confidence is down so it's an ideal time to play them. If we're up for it, we will make a good job of it.

"We got through to this round against Enfield last season but just didn't seem up for it against a good side and lost 3-0. But I have a funny feeling that won't be the case this year."

Brown also revealed Sky Sports would be profiling the club if Swifts did make the fourth qualifying round.

The Walshes Meadow side went sixth in the league on Tuesday after beating Racing Club Warwick 1-0.

Swifts have already chalked up seven wins at home and Brown feels their large pitch is having an impact by tiring visitors late in games.

He also praised the support which has more than doubled Swifts' average gate from below 100 last season.

He added: "There's two bus loads going to Hucknall. There are more and more people coming to games.

"We have season ticket holders now and there are even people from further afield watching us regularly.

"We really appreciate the support and I was surprised the number, about 150 in total, who turned out on Saturday despite the England match.

"Our start has surprised a lot of people but I am a great believer that we keep setting goals and challenges.

"At this moment, we're showing the form of a top-six club and I don't see any reason why we should drop from that for the rest of the season."

Striker Tim Langford still has hamstring trouble but suspended trio Quentin Townsend, Steve Ulfig and Anthony Davies are all available now.

If a cup replay is needed, it would be on Tuesday night (7.45pm).
