YOUNGSTERS at a Worcester school went back in time when they took part in a real-life history lesson.
The children from Year 6 at Warndon Junior School got into the spirit of the Second World War when they were visited by Doris Dinsdale.
She brought the war to life with the help of air raid sirens, a recording of the declaration of war by Neville Chamberlain, and artefacts such as gas masks.
The children were also encouraged to dress up in Second World War dress, and were shown games children played in the 40s and how to do household chores, war-time style.
"It gives the children first-hand experience by touching and seeing the artefacts which are brought in," said Year 6 teacher David Paisley.
"It brings home to them what people went through and they enjoyed the day very much."
