A MAN who robbed a Hereford building society carried out a similar raid in Lancashire, police believe.

West Mercia police have linked up with officers in Preston following the robbery at the Cheltenham & Gloucester Building Society branch in Commercial Street on Friday, September 28.

The robber burst in at about 4.10pm, pushed a note under the counter and escaped with cash.

A man wearing similar clothes carried out a robbery at a branch of the building society on Tuesday, September 4, in Marsden, Lancashire.

He is described as more than 6ft tall, aged between 45 and 50 years old, of slim build with a balding head and light brown hair.

He had a heavy, light brown moustache and wore metal-rimmed spectacles.

In both robberies he wore a light-coloured lightweight zip-up jacket, burgundy shirt, dark trousers and a brightly-coloured patterned tie.
