DEAR EDITOR - Another contribution from myself in answer to a letter in last week's Advertiser.
It had to happen! Westlands estate gets all the bad publicity and as soon as something good happens the 'whingers' start.
I refer to the letter penned by K J Cooper of Winslow Avenue - "Westlands getting more than its fair share."
Yes, we do have more than our fair share of druggies, unemployed, single parents, poor, illiterate, elderly and infirm. But we don't whinge.
Does K J Cooper think that a little fairy appeared out of the blue and said: "Here you are Westlands, here is £1.5 million."
For a start, Worcestershire has been nominated for a £1.5m. Government grant, of which half a million might come to Westlands, but again, our little fairy had nothing to do with that.
We have to fight and argue for every penny that we get, as do most other organisations. How much fighting has K J Cooper done for his/her area?
I put in an average of four to six hours a week (unpaid) as well as holding down a full time job.
Other people also put themselves out to improve Westlands - an estate that we are proud of.
We are also pleased when other residents groups win money from their efforts.
So, K J Cooper, if you want to improve your area, don't go to the bottom of your garden looking for these rich fairies, start fighting like the rest of us and stop whinging.
