IN-DEMAND Studley striker Craig Pountney has been the subject of a seven day approach from Alliance rivals and last night's opponents Stourbridge.

But the prolific front-runner, who last week turned down a move to Dr Martens Western side Atherstone United, is set to snub the Black Country side.

"I've told Craig about the latest approach and he says he's not interested," said Bees boss Mark Chambers.

"He is happy here and we are delighted he wants to stay with us.

"He left Sutton Coldfield Town because of the travelling and has turned down Atherstone for the same reason.

"I suppose eventually he will get an offer too good to refuse but for the time being he is going nowhere."

The BKL manager saw his side collapse dramatically at home to big-spending Rushall Olympic at the weekend.

A Jamie Bayley goal put the hosts in front until eight minutes from time but former West Brom, Halesowen Town and Dudley Town star Gary Piggott struck and Studley ended up losing 3-1.

"We played well but how can you compete when their striker is on more than all my team put together?" added Chambers.

Star midfielder Steve Duncan was pitched into action despite having no pre-season and left back Rob Powell played despite five weeks out through injury.

Defender Simon Redhead returned for last night's 3-0 loss at Stourbridge but midfielder Steven Hands was out.

Striker Andy Grubb is a fortnight away from a return and midfielder Martin Keight could return for the visit of Stafford Town on Saturday (ko 3pm).

On-loan Redditch United midfielder Gavin Barratt made his Studley debut at the weekend and was set to figure again last night.
