LAST Tuesday night saw the final race in Upton Warren Sailing Club's Points Series.
This is a series made up of 18 races open to all members, and 23 boats started the pursuit race in good wind but gloomy and overcast conditions.
The young members in Toppers took a long time to catch, but three GPs finally got past, finishing the race with a keen battle.
First were Russell Beale and Vivien Brookes, second Bill and Pam Whiteside and third Pete Webby and Terry Collings.
Saturday evening should have been the last race in the summer evening series. Members arrived at the club to see the lake like a mirror, and there was no wind at all.
The race was abandoned even though some crews thought that they could have paddled around a course.
