ASTWOOD Bank ace Andy Tinsley has called for the town's two superbikes teams to combine next season.

Tinsley, who races for Knotts Motorcycles, has been courted by Redditch-based Team Legs 11 since the rival team parted company with Tristan Palmer.

Wimbledon rider Kelvin Reilly has been a regular for the Redditch outfit for the latter half of the season and hopes to be given a ride next season.

But Tinsley this week dropped the first hint he could be ready to link up with the team who have enjoyed media attention more through their tie-in with the Birmingham lap dancing club than for explosive performances on the track.

"At the moment there are two teams in Redditch and neither is really doing the job properly," Tinsley told the Advertiser.

"It would be good for the town if we could join forces, the problems are in amalgamating two sets of sponsors when there is only a limited amount of space on the bike."

Both riders, who have enjoyed an intense rivalry this season, have predicted a good showing at Donington.

Tinsley, who qualified on the front row of the grid at last year's event on the National rather than the Grand Prix circuit, wants a top five finish.

And Reilly, who cites the national circuit as his favourite track, said he would settle for nothing less than a top three finish after a couple of runners-up spots in previous years.

"I've never finished outside the top ten there," said Reilly, who is sporting a shocking red haircut for the final race of the Superstocks season.

"We will finish in the top three, I'm in talks about next year and would like to stay with Legs 11 but it's too early to say yes or no yet."

Legs 11 manager Dave Worthington has turned down the offer to take his outfit into the Superbikes championship with an unnamed rider and says he has had offers from four riders to join him next season but is still looking for a local option.

And the Redditch team have recruited Steve Taylor as commercial manager, Worthington has signed a contract with the Birmingham lap dancing club and Renault as sponsors for the new season.
