A TALENTED town poet was celebrating after being placed runner-up in the finals of a national poetry competition.
Daniel Swan, from Lickey Square, Rednal, had his work rewarded after winning the regional finals of the event supported by Bromsgrove bookshop Ottakar's.
Poet Laureate Andrew Motion judged his work, which was in the nine to 12-year-old category.
Ottakar's also commended regional winners from all age groups.
Eva Butkovic, of Berkley Close, Harwood Park, was runner-up for 13 to 16-year-olds while Ryan White, from Poplar Drive, Barnt Green, was runner-up in the age five to eight section.
Poetry by Graham Plender, from Plymouth Road, Barnt Green was deemed the best in the adult category.
Ottakar's manager, Rhys Thomas, said: "I am delighted with the quality and number of entries."
Daniel will be awarded a certificate for his work.
