A MAN attacked outside a Bromsgrove nightclub suffered a broken cheekbone, Worcester Crown Court heard yesterday.
One witness told police she saw Simon Lawther's head being banged on the ground ten times.
Daniel Pitt, aged 21, of Lincoln Road, Sidemoor, Bromsgrove, pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm on Mr Lawther on September 23 last year.
Prosecutor Tariq Shakoor said the victim was waiting outside the Euphoria nightclub when the defendant came out with a number of friends.
The attack took place round a corner from the club, out of sight of security cameras.
Mr Shakoor said the witness, Susan Blackburn, vividly remembered the noise as Mr Lawther's head was hit against the ground.
She also claimed he was kicked in the head up to five times and punched.
But six other people gave accounts to police in which they describe a lesser degree of violence.
Defence counsel Lawrence Watts said it was Pitt's case that he punched and headbutted the victim up to four times.
He denied head kicks and battering him against the ground.
Pitt, who pleaded guilty on the day of his trial, received no injuries in the incident which was sparked by an earlier dispute inside the nightclub.
Judge Michael Mott said he accepted Pitt's basis of plea but warned: "This man received very serious injuries indeed. A custodial sentence is likely."
Pitt was granted bail while a pre-sentence report is prepared by the probation service.
