Bromsgrove Bus and Coach, in Sherwood Road, is a finalist in the Queen Elizabeth's Foundation Ease of Access, Service and Employment (EASE) awards.

It is the first nomination for a nationally recognised award the specialist service, which has been running for 11 years, has received.

A team of nine, including long standing Robin Collett, of Oak Road, Catshill, provides travel for disabled people of all ages, including school runs and day trips.

Catshill's Chadsgrove School, in Meadow Road, is one of the organisations Robin and his colleagues work with.

Pupil's from the school recently went on a trip to Weston-super-Mare.

Headteacher Richard Aust said: "We have always been well looked after and Robin is very helpful."

Queen Elizabeth's Foundation is a national charity which assists more than 100,000 disabled people every year.

Its awards scheme, which is in its fifth year, allows members of the public to nominate businesses, employers and voluntary services that demonstrate good practice for disabled people.

Representatives from the company have been invited to a special lunch on Thursday October 18 at London's Hilton Hotel, in Park Lane, where the winners will be announced.

Mr Collett said: "Just to be nominated is great. It is very nice to know our work has been recognised."

However, Robin and colleagues will be waiting by the phone for good news because a busy work schedule means they can't attend the lunch.

He added: "We are over the moon already."
