THE tricolour will be flying high in Bromsgrove this weekend to welcome French visitors to the town.
Forty-one guests from St Sauveur Lendelin, in Normandy, will be welcomed by the vice-chairman of Bromsgrove District Council, Cllr David Hancox (Con, Uffdown and Waseley), at the Council House, in Burcot Lane, when they arrive on Saturday afternoon.
The exchange has been organised by the Bromsgrove and District Twining Association after the trip planned in May was cancelled because of the foot and mouth crisis.
Bromsgrove families and members of the association will play host to the visitors, who can expect two action-packed days in the town.
The weekend will begin with a guided town tour, starting at around 2pm followed by a barn dance and meal of traditional English specialities at the Labour Club in Worcester Road in the evening.
On Sunday guests can look forward to a coach trip to the Jinney Ring craft centre in Hanbury followed by a visit to Stratford.
Although Bromsgrove's formal twin town is Gronau, in Germany, the Twining Association also established a friendship link with St Sauveur Lendelin in 1999.
Anyone willing to accommodate a French visitor for the weekend should call Ros Cooke on (01527) 832467.
