'BIN there, done that,' will be the cry from Bromsgrove District Council leader Nick Psirides when he spends next Tuesday talking rubbish.
The Tory councillor for Norton ward will become a dustmen for the day, along with Cllr John Tidmarsh (Con, Stoke Prior), to promote Local Democracy Week which kicks off on Monday, October 15.
They will be joining the crew to see how the job is really done.
Cllr Psirides said: "We want to get closer to the community, so that more people know who we are and the work we do for them.
"The more people are aware of what their local authority does for them, the more we hope they will want to vote when an election comes round."
Cllr Tidmarsh said: "Refuse collection is a very important service and we aim to give our residents the best value for money with our back-door collection."
Electoral turn-out nationally continues to decline and Bromsgrove is no exception.
The last district council election in 1999 saw a 37.35 per cent turn-out of voters, compared to 39.12 per cent on the previous occasion in 1995, and 41.3 per cent in 1991.
