REDDITCH'S Palace Theatre will be welcoming back the Hull Truck Theatre Company this week as it gears up to take the country by storm with a 40-date UK tour, writes Melina Cannon.

First premiered by the acclaimed theatre company in 1984, John Godber's September in the Rain charts the frustrations and joys of an ordinary marriage - the triumphs, regrets and unsung love.

The play is set in Blackpool when Jack and Liz look back on their life together as they make their annual pilgrimage to the seaside resort they first visited as newlyweds 30 years before.

The couple have spent a lifetime of hard-earned holidays at Blackpool boarding houses, whiling away the hours on the promenade, eating chips and paddling in the sea.

September in the Rain features the great British seaside holiday with all the trimmings of bad weather, set against the backdrop of Blackpool in its heyday.

The classic comedy will be performed at the Alcester Street theatre tomorrow and Friday.

Performances take place at 7.30pm and tickets cost £8, £7.50 (disc rate) or £7 (with Reddicard) from the box office on 65203 or 68484 or the Tourist Information Centre, Alcester Street.
