SAM Bowen scored another two goals as Bromsgrove Rovers beat Pelsall Villa 4-0 in the Midland Alliance last night.

Back from a brief spell at Evesham United, it took him just nine minutes to make his mark. Following a crossfield ball from Fraser McHugh, Bowen's effort deflected off a def-ender past 'keeper Steve Corbett.

Strike partner Les Palmer got in on the act midway through the first half, striding down the left unchallenged before cutting into the area and stroking the ball under Corbett.

Rovers virtually killed the game off a minute before the interval, central defender Steve Pope capitalising on some shoddy marking and finished past the hapless Corbett.

Despite dominating the second half, Bromsgrove struggled to punish the visitors, Corbett making a fantastic point-blank save off Jon Ford's bullet header.

It was left to Bowen to complete the scoring, sending a peach of a lob over Corbett.

Pelsall striker Cameron Morgan was sent off four minutes from time for an x-rated two-footed lunge on the impressive Joe Licata.

A depleted County Sports side gave a tremendous performance to draw 1-1 at Highgate in the Midland Combination Premier Division.

They deservedly went ahead when a great cross from Neil Matthewson found Justin Ballinger unmarked in the box to slot home.

Without a regular 'keeper available Darren Tafft was a very good replacement with some fine saves, but the home team equalised just before half time.

Chris Thomas scored the only goal in the 39th minute as Malvern Town won 1-0 at Pershore Town in the Worcester Royal Infirmary Senior Cup. Simon Brain had a 'goal' disallowed for the home side.
