WORCESTER Rugby Club have been dealt another injury blow with Elton Moncrieff ruled out for at least two weeks.

The scrum half, who has failed to play a full league game this season since his summer move from Gloucester, suffered a re-occurrence of his calf injury in Saturday's 31-22 defeat by Coventry.

The New Zealander picked up the initial problem last year at Kingsholm and has been unable to shake it off since his move to Sixways.

On Saturday, after being given the all-clear to play, he came on as a second half replacement only to limp off before the end.

"It is a re-occurrence of the calf injury," said assistant coach Steve Townend. "It's obviously a blow to him and the club because we want to have the strongest squad in which to choose from.

"We will know more tomorrow but we think there is a small tear which will rule him out for two to three weeks."

Moncrieff will now miss Saturday's National Cup third round clash at Lydney and has been ruled out of Worcester's league trips to Wakefield and Otley later this month.

Better news on the injury front, however, concerns Alistair Murdoch and Scott Barrow who are now back in full training and could figure in Saturday's cup clash.

Fly-half Craig Chalmers is still nursing a hamstring strain and is unlikely to be involved.
