THE way in which First Midland Red plans to withdraw routes to the east and north of Redditch but maintain its very frequent routes elsewhere in the town is 'bus service by postcode'.
A town's bus company should serve all the town or not at all.
Readers who have not seen First Midland Red's website may be amused (or not) by the puff on their front page: 'First Midland Red is the acknowledged market leader in road passenger transport...a major contributor in initiatives for improving the quality of the bus service you, the customer, rightly expects...have our sights firmly set on bringing public transport to the forefront'.
It's easy for them to say that, isn't it?
