YOUNG and old will be able to enjoy a special celebration being planned in Upton-upon-Severn to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee next year.
Groups from around the town and surrounding villages are being urged to become involved and make it a thoroughly inclusive event, with something for everyone.
After an initial meeting chaired by the Mayor, Councillor Roger Barker, local groups representing mothers and toddlers, boat owners, schoolchildren, music, gardening, water rescue, tourism and trade joined together to discuss ideas.
Under the chairmanship of Peter Pantling, they came up with the idea of a Family Fun Day, to include everything from beautiful baby, knobbly knees and glamorous grandmother contests, to children's and parents' races, a flower festival, tug-of-war and cruise for the old folks.
