THE Royal Navy has become landlocked this week as it drops anchor in Worcestershire and Herefordshire.

Members of the Navy are in the two counties to talk to youngsters about what life in the Navy and Royal Marines is really like.

The Royal Navy Students Presentation Team was at schools in Bewdley and Hereford yesterday, and was due to be at Hereford College of Technology and Worcester College of Technology today.

The visits are part of a national initiative to raise awareness of the Navy's diverse role with its increasing emphasis on peace keeping and humanitarian activities.

"This is a great opportunity for students and staff to find out about the wide range of jobs available in the Navy," said Commander John Large, who is leading the presentation team.

"You need two A-levels to be an officer. Ratings need fewer qualifications. For people who enjoy working as a team, it's a brilliant life with a good career structure and the sky's the limit."
