A WORCESTER councillor says he feels "disheartened and angry" after coming across a pile of litter next to the river, just yards from empty litter bins.
Coun Derek Prodger was walking along the western riverbank when he came across a mass of litter strewn all over the walkway.
Just 10 yards away were three litter bins - all of them empty.
"I've never seen such a mess in all my life," said the former Mayor who is now city councillor for Bedwardine and regularly walks by the river, which is part of his ward.
"They want litter bins, we've given them litter bins, and they take no notice whatsoever."
Coun Prodger said there were plastic bags, tins, cider bottles and an empty beer carton blighting the scenic spot.
"I'm disappointed and angry. People don't respect what we have in Worcester."
