A WORCESTER couple are cracking open the champagne after netting £1,000 as the first rollover winners in the Evening News big prize Bingo.
A delighted Wilf and Doreen Pickles are now planning a Christmas to remember thanks to their lucky break.
"I'm always doing competitions and people call me silly as they say 'you won't win anything'. But this has proved them wrong," said 74-year-old Mr Pickles, who worked at Astwood crematorium for 21 years.
"After crossing off the winning number, which was 25, I was on the edge of my seat until ringing to claim the prize."
The Warndon couple are now planning to spend the money on decorating their lounge and spoiling their grandchildren.
"It couldn't have been a better time to win," said 66-year-old Mrs Pickles, who cared for her husband after his triple heart bypass two years ago.
"We are now going to go home and open a bottle of bubbly," she said.
