ALCESTER'S daunting league opener at Old Wheatleyans looks an even stiffer task in the wake of a 31-3 Junior Cup mauling at the hands of Earlsdon.
After an impressive 31-0 thrashing of Manor Park Alcester went into the first round cup tie with high hopes only to be brought swiftly back to earth.
The hosts for Saturday's Warwickshire One opener (ko 3pm) will be buoyed by a 50-7 triumph over Claverdon at the weekend.
But Alcester will have to beat sides of their calibre to reach Williams' target of a top five finish after flirting with relegation last season.
Alcester have been drawn against Coventry outfit Spartans after a bye in the first round of the Warwickshire Shield in November.
