VETERANS of the Telecommunications Research Establishment (TRE) got together for an informal reunion in Malvern last Friday (September 7).
Twenty-three men and women who worked at the establishment during the Second World War met up at the Great Malvern Hotel in Graham Road.
Over morning coffee, buffet lunch and afternoon tea, they reminisced about the days when TRE was at the forefront of the secret radar war against the Third Reich.
Laurie Hinton, the reunion's organiser, said: "There used to be large formal reunions, but it all got a bit much. We decided to hold a smaller, informal event."
Special guest was Malvern's mayor, Whinray Coates, with her husband Douglas, who is a former TRE man himself. Mr Hinton said it was possible the event could be repeated next year if people wanted.
He said: "If there are any old wartime TRE personnel who we have not contacted, and who would be interested, they can contact me on 01753 860548."
TRE was a forerunner for DERA, part of which has now become Quinetiq.
