THE Society's 40th season opens on October 6 with a third visit from Muse&Music in a light-hearted programme 'Mad about Musicals' which explores the world of the musical from Lehar and Novello to the present day.
In November, The Markham Trio will play piano by Mozart, Arensky and Schubert. Evesham-born Philip Moore, who has just made his Royal Albert Hall Proms debut, will give a piano recital in December.
Then in February the acclaimed duo of Anna Nokes, flute and Gillian Tingay, harp will give a programme of mainly French music. March sees the first of two more unusual concerts when two outstanding young players, Ian Watson, classical accordion and Matthew Forbes, cello, play works ranging from Vivaldi to Gershwin.
The Englefield Ensemble are the visitors in April with music for violin, clarinet, soprano and piano by Mozart, Bruch and Schubert. The final concert will by given by Classic Rhythm featuring music for piano flute and percussion. It involves a vast array of instruments in a wide-ranging programme which usually pays to sell-out audiences.
All concerts are held at the Ecumenical Centre. A programme giving full details is available from the library or by telephoning 546056. Membership is only £35 or £28 for concessions with accompanied school age children admitted free. Individual tickets are £7 or £6 for concessions.
