ON Friday, June 29 and Monday, July 2, I had the misfortune of travelling with Centro, a supposed Rail Service operating between Worcester and Birmingham.

On the first occasion, the train I was on ceased to work soon after leaving Worcester Shrub Hill. The engine packed up a mile before reaching Bromsgrove.

After much delay and contradictory information we eventually were shunted to Bromsgrove by another train, where we had to wait for a further train to take us to Birmingham new Street.

The whole time from Worcester to Birmingham taking well over two hours.

On my return, three days later, I had to wait 50 minutes at New Street for the Birmingham to Worcester Train.

The train then left, stopping after less than a minute as it could not proceed to Bromsgrove and Kidderminster for a reason not given.

We were then informed we were to take a different route which first took us back to New Street and then on a long detour to Droitwich and Worcester, though passengers wanting to get to Kidderminster or Bromsgrove and so on had to get another train to Wolverhampton!

This whole journey took just a little bit less than two hours. I am only left with one solution to the whole problem. Get rid of Centro, with the rest of the other companies and renationalise the whole railway service.

The present system is just too complicated, too dysfunctional and out of touch with what I and my fellow commuters need - a cheap, reliable and safe rail network.
