OVER £1,000 was raised as villagers in Bidford rallied round to help swell the coffers of a foot and mouth charity fund.
The Bidford Big Bash, held in the village last Saturday, attracted more than 120 people to St Laurence's Church and featured more than 50 performers.
The event was the brainchild of villager Amanda Fulham who said: "It was a real village effort.
"There was nothing that came from outside." Cash raised will go to the National Relief Fund for the Farming Community, co-ordinated through the Royal Agricultural Society of England, based at Stoneleigh in Warwickshire.
Among the highlights were unaccompanied Negro spirtuals sung by pupils of Bidford Primary School, handbell ringers and performances by two organists.
