EVESHAM Rowing Club members of widely varying ages had a number of successes at the National Veterans and Schools Regattas.

In windy conditions, Teresa Roberts won gold in two events and a silver in a third.

In crews, including rowers from Bewdley, Birmingham and Upton, she won the Women's Vet A Coxless Four and the Vet C (over-43) Coxed Fours.

She was beaten into second place by Henley in the Women's Vet A Single Sculls.

Tina Bonham, with friends from Sheffield, Henley and Stratford, won gold in the Women's Vet B (over-36) Coxed Fours. Her crew completed the course two seconds ahead of their nearest rivals.

Neil Staite capped his return to competitive action this year with a silver in the Men's Vet B (over-36) Single Sculls, finishing finished just over a second behind the winner.

His efforts were a tribute to his fitness as he had already achieved third place in the same event at Vet A - it was also his fourth race in three hours over the 1000m course.

At the Schools Regatta Evesham won medals in two events.

Andrew Walker, the National Indoor Champion at his age, won silver in the Under 15 Boy's Single Sculls, completing completed the course just two seconds behind the winner.

The club's Under 16 girls' Quad Sculls crew showed grit and determination in winning bronze.

Coming from the back of the field, Rosy Buckley, Claire Yates, Katherine Scott and Holly Carter kept fighting to finish a full 11 seconds ahead of the fourth-placed crew from York.

The Evesham club would like to express its gratitude to Roger Dyson. Without his company's generous sponsorship of club equipment the girls could not have competed in this event.
