21st ANNUAL GARDEN PARTY (Cats Protection): Worcester and District Branch are holding its 21 garden party, by kind permission of Betty Hughes, in her delightful gardens at 'Talland', 30 Nogains, Pershore. There will be many varied stalls including, ring the cat, handicrafts, nearly new and other items, including a stall for the ME Support Group, Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Two competitions will also be held, the first being 'An unusual photograph of your own cat or kitten (taken at home or in our garden). The second is 'A coloured photograph and verse about your pet'. The Party is on August 12 between 3 and 6pm and admission is £1 (including refreshments). GARDENING CLUB: The June meeting was attended by some 40 members who were welcomed by Chairman, George Featonby. Secretary, Jean Norcott, announced that the trip to the late Geoff Hamilton's garden, at Barnsdale, had been arranged for July 12. The cost would be £9.50 for RHS members and £13.50 for Non-RHS members, and the coach will be leaving Broad Street, at 9am. There are still plenty of seats available. After coffee Betty Foster gave a most amusing account of her experiences as a smallholder - describing the trials and the pleasures involved. The Competition 'A drought-tolerant plant' was won by Frances Watson-Smyth, with Jean Norcott second, and Phyl Davies third. The next meeting will be on July 26 at 7.30pm.
