BADSEY'S youngsters gained the upper hand in the first leg of the Under-12 Cotswold League play-off with a four-run defeat of Drakes Broughton.
Marcus Humpstone and Richard Martin were best with the bat in a total of 240-2 and it looked too tall a task for the chasers until the Earley's arrival at the wicket.
Spinner Jamie Anderson had earlier taken three wickets in one over with Matthew Hunt striking twice in his spell to leave Drakes a huge task that Earley's 27 runs almost helped match Badsey's score.
