STONE returned to winning ways with two comprehensive victories at the weekend.

They won their Worcestershire League Division Five game at Bridewell by 171 runs on Saturday then beat Rushwick in a Sunday friendly.

In the league match, Stone were asked to bat first but compiled a testing target of 257-6.

There were major contributions of 90 from Keith Harrington, 61 from Alan Ferguson, 30 by skipper Gary Bourke and a brisk 21 from Matt Tyrrell. Bridewell's Mansfield took 3-87.

The home side's reply started well with 45 runs coming off the first 10 overs.

But both openers had been removed by the 16th over with the score standing at 73.

A decisive spell by Bourke of 6-12, well supported by young spinner Kevin Hatton (2-12), reduced Bridewell to 86 all out.

They lost their last seven wickets for 13 runs with only McNabb, 51, offering real resistance.

Bridewell 86 (2 points), Stone 257-6 (24 points).

Stone travelled to Rushwick and were again asked to bat first.

The villagers reached 197-7 from 40 overs with 42 runs from Pete Glover and an impressive 37 not out from Jamie Batsford.

Perkins was the main wicket taker with 3-40.

Rushwick set off steadily in reply but then lost wickets at regular intervals.

Hatton claimed 3-58, while Pete Durnell, Nick Powell and Batsford took two wickets apiece.

All the bowlers were supported by a good fielding display.

Top scorer Price (31) could not prevent Rushwick being all out for 122 runs off 26 overs, 75 short of the target set by the visitors.

Rushwick 122, Stone 197-7.
