Acupuncturist David Gillett has two sons.

A. Agriculture needs help to change to the sustainable road. Instead of the CAP, I want to subsidise farming that ensures environmental and animal welfare standards. The Green Party will wholeheartedly support Project Carrot, a £20m plan to spread the organic philosophy throughout Herefordshire.

I shall continue working on the steering group of the Organic Food and Farming Targets Bill, a Private Member's Bill which I initiated two years ago and now supported by 262 MPs and 110 organisations.

B. A bypass makes no sense in terms of reducing traffic in the city. The Highway Authority says this and it was recognised by the last Tory Government which was unable to justify a bypass at a public inquiry.

The £60m price-tag on a bypass would be much better spent on measures widely advocated by the Green Party:

Green transport plans for businesses, hospitals and colleges to reduce

rush-hour traffic.

Safe routes to school to reduce rush hour traffic by 10 per cent.

Provision of better public transport and bus lanes

Better provision for walking and cycling

Home zones where pedestrians and cyclists have priority over cars

C. The Green Party would address the causes of crime - the loss of community and the gap between rich and poor. We will only meet the challenge of crime if everyone is treated equally, has faith in society and feels they are valued. We want to reinvigorate local communities, reduce inequality and establish a shared sense of purpose.

We place emphasis on rehabilitation rather than retribution and we support restorative justice that requires offenders to make financial or practical reparation to victims and the community.
