Mick Davies lives with his mother, Vera, in Wellesbourne. His family consists of Jeanne, his partner, and other members.

In 1979 he joined the army, leaving in 1984.

During the next five years he worked at the leisure centre in Stratford and as a landscape gardener.

In 1989, he undertook a college course, studying sociology and applied social sciences. He also started working for Warwickshire Probation Services.

In 1996, he became a self-employed environmental campaigner.

While doing his degree course, he studied green politics and the environment and has been involved in the Green Party ever since.

Mr Davies has stood at various elections and was elected to Wellesbourne Parish Council in May last year.

He said: "The Green Party, and myself, would like to build a caring and secure society - a culture at peace with itself and within the world, a multicultural society, in harmony with nature, where justice is incorporated in every aspect of life such as economic justice, democratic justice and food justice.

"Green Party politics that were once marginal are becoming mainstream.

''Our rejection of road building is widely shared. The Government has begun to write off Third World debt. Nuclear power is seen as a threat, not an asset, and the flooding of recent years in south Warwickshire has made people accept the threat of climate change."

Mr Davies stressed the need for adequate public services, complementary medicines being widely incorporated into the NHS and free university education for everybody.
