TWO Colwall mothers are aiming to set up a creche in the village for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers.

Clare Wright and Debbie Herbert would like to hear from anyone who has ideas or who would like to help with the project.

"It's still in the early stages. We haven't even decided on the premises or appealed for grants, we're just testing the waters," said Dr Wright.

She said the idea for the creche came to them after moving into the village with young children.

"We had no family to help out and it would have been good to have somewhere to leave the children for an hour or so for a sanity break," she said.

"We're more settled now but we thought there might be other families in the same position who wanted a bit of a break.

"It would be useful for those times when you want to go to the dentist or doctor or when you just want a bit of a break.

"Initially, we're just thinking of pre-school age, three months to five-years. We have a very good pre-school in Colwall but it only runs in the mornings and it's educational.

"We wouldn't want to do anything to undermine the school, this would be more of a baby-sitting service."

Dr Wright said they would like to hear from anyone interested in helping or using the creche, particularly qualified people who would be able to work a couple of days a week.
