READING the letter from the ex-mayor and the best value summary reports April 2001, it is obvious what a shambles Malvern Town Council is in, with costs rocketing and planning etc out of control.

The 'new' council must obviously considerably reduce the rates by cutting ambitions and cost. Costs can be reduced by 1. Selling Manders (probably at a loss); 2. Drastically reducing commitments and staff to bare essentials also handing back things to other authorities (why are Priory and Victoria Parks under separate councils?); 3. Reduce the number of councillors meeting less frequently and in a periodically-hired room.
