Competition
The first round of the 2001 Douglas Bader Competition was played at Broadway Golf Club on May 16 with an unusually small field of competitors.
The competition is played as a greensomes stableford and the worthy winners were Sue and Les Carter with a score of 40 points. The runners-up were Liz and Harry Roberts, who came in with 37 points, closely followed by Lyn Chambers and Arthur Godfrey with 36.
Sue and Les now go on to play the next round at Bransford at the Bank House Hotel, near Worcester, in July and, should they prove to be triumphant there, will join the winners of the seven other regional finals in Marrakesh.
