FOLLOWING on to the comments by myself in last weeks Evesham United, "On course to build a field of dreams" article, we the residents in the area affected would like to put our points of view over to the rest of the population in Evesham, to let them know what has happened so far.

Here are some facts that we would like put forward in your papers to prove that EUFC have not yet won the war only possibly the first battle?

The more information we find, including the contents of the planning file at Wychavon District Council offices the harder it is to understand how and why outline planning consent was granted. There are numerous conflicting statements, and a lot of points that would have been overlooked or ignored if it was not for us residents doing our own investigations and bringing in outside bodies like the Council for the Protection of Rural England ie The Enclosure act 1777 boundary hedge and the Anglo Saxon ditch, protected trees and the Roman remains.

This hedge is therefore protected by an Act of Parliament, this was not raised in the survey by Worcestershire Wildlife Consultancy on behalf of WDC and is one of the things that make this hedgerow important along with its associated ditch. The owners of the land are required by law to maintain it by the terms of the 1777 act. Until 1931 it was also the Gloucestershire County Boundary so it is not just another hedgerow.

The plans forwarded by the Club's Consultant to the Council and various letters show the hedge removed with a statement that it is untidy and not maintained and would benefit from being grubbed up and the area re-landscaping.

The only reason that the Highways authority has not sent in their comments/answer is that the club has not supplied the information they have being asked to supply so that a correct decision can be formulated.

Worcestershire Archaeology Service are listed as did not object to previous application. Now they have been informed of the hard standings, building and infra structure they have listed their requirements which are, a whole site survey using geophysics, metal detecting, field walking and the Eastern half being stripped and all features recorded. Obviously they would have taken a stance if given the correct information at a earlier date.

Government Planning Guidelines also state brown field sites should be preferred to greenfield out of town developments, unless exceptional circumstances exist. As there is at least one such site in town WDC should have pushed for this, if the club really needs to move from Common Road for anything but financial gain. It is obvious that the councils have not done their job to the current regulations.

The councils own statement that the move will benefit the residents of Common Road and future residents of Conduit Hill causes us concern as they gain we loose!

The development requirement from The Doc Marten League is much larger that EUFC stated at their public consultation meeting.
