REDDITCH 1sts' league match against Hagley, saw Redditch take first innings but they were never at ease on a slow pitch against the mixture of the Hagley attack of spin at one end and seam at the other.

Despite Marcus Busfield 21 and Jason Morgan 13, Redditch again pressed the self destruct button to fall to 93 all out in only 43 of their allotted 55 overs.

Nev Mason, 10 and John Lostitch, 11 were the only other players to make double figures.

Hagley in reply found runs hard to come by and slumped to 46-8 then Eades 24 not out and Preece 24 ensured Hagley gained maximum points with a one wicket victory.

The Redditch bowling trio of Nev Mason 6-49, Guy Muspratt 2-35 and John Lostitch 1-5 off 13 overs all bowled very well but it was not to be Redditch's day. Hagley 20 points Redditch 4 points.

The match was sponsored by Studley Tyre and Exhaust.

And on Bank Holiday Monday Redditch returned to winning ways with a 50 run victory at Lichfield.

Having first innings Redditch were dismissed for 150 in the 49th over, again failing to use all the overs available.

Jason Morgan batted splendidly for a classy 57 with important contributions from skipper Guy Muspratt, 24, and Spencer Cox, 17.

In reply Lichfield were immediately in trouble against the pace of Muspratt and spin of Nev Mason, the only resistance coming from their Aussie, Connor with 56, and were dismissed for just 100.

Both Mason and Muspratt took five for 50 with no extras, the bowlers being splendidly backed up by excellent catching and fielding.

Redditch 2nds, put into bat, made a poor start then solid batting from Nick Fowkes 16, Paul Baker 18, Spencer Cox 28, enabled Don Protherough 40 and 29 not out from Chris Taylor to guide Redditch to 156-7 off their 50 overs.

Hagley, despite losing an early wicket, made rapid progress in pursuit of the Redditch total.

Good bowling by teenager Alan White 3-27 in 10 overs, Steve Merry 1-35 in 14 overs and Robin Biddle 2-31 ensured a close finish with Hagley winning by 3 wickets with just 8 balls remaining.
