MR Baldwin, architect, submitted plans to the bench for their approval, for intended alterations to the Redan Inn, West Malvern. It was, he said, intended to enlarge the smoke room, to provide better domestic accommodation and also to improve the sanitary arrangements.

ON Thursday evening, a complimentary dinner was given at the British Camp Hotel, in honour of Corporal Godsell and Trooper Bendall, who recently returned from South Africa. Replying to the toast of "The Imperial Forces," Trooper Bendall said that, if ever the time again arrived, for the Volunteers to be called upon, he was sure they would respond to the call.

H M Queen Mary is 84 tomorrow and the Malvern Gazette respectfully tenders its compliments and wishes for her continual health. It is now many years since Queen Mary saw Malvern but she always enquires tenderly about the life on the hills.

Those people who have attended past Sunday School trips from Ledbury will, I am sure, agree that they had an excellent day at the seaside. This year, the trip is to Porthcawl by a special train, leaving Ledbury at 10.20am; the only stop being at Ashperton, to pick up a contingent there.

Five employees of Rothwell and Milbourne, the Malvern garage firm and motor distributors, were last week presented with commemorative tankards in acknowledgement of their long service - totalling 208 years - with the company.

Ledbury Farmers are to protest against a move that would prevent waste food being collected from hospitals and used as pigswill. The local branch of the NFU agreed on Friday to support the Hereford branch in resisting the installation of waste disposal units that would churn up the hospital kitchen waste so that it can be passed into the drains.
