I DON'T usually allow myself to be snobbish about much but as far as Upton becoming identified in future to new visitors, residents or friends needing directions by a holiday village complex located on one of the main accesses to our picturesque town, I am afraid I shall stand shoulder to shoulder with the rest of the self-respecting snobs in town who do not rejoice in this prospect.
This marina has changed ownership two or three times already and may do so again, raising the possibility of yet further development in even less aesthetic directions.
A fellow resident has recently despaired of Upton becoming a Butlins-on-Severn. I share her disappointment. Once a holiday village, next a theme park with mini-golf and performing dolphins . . .
